MyThoughtsOn: The State of the Union Address

For an America That’s Built to Last

Throughout his State of the Union speech, President Barack Obama harped on the notion that “America is back” and continues to restore her economy, fix her unemployment issue and bring her troops home.

“Built to last” was a phrase repeated throughout his address when referring to the economy, which is also the slogan for the American car company, GMC. This manufacturer was said to have countless jobs to unemployed Americans this year. Aiding the unemployment issue, Obama spoke about the need for “new American jobs and new American industries,” which would work to decrease the number of its unemployed citizens.

To go in tandem with the unemployment issue, Obama discussed the need for the 1%, which thousands of protesters have been trying to get the attention of, to pay their fair share of tax dollars. Obama ended his speech by reminding Americans “there is no challenge to great, no mission to hard… the state of the union will always be strong.”
